HSCI 201 Nutrition for Health Professionals

This course focuses on the essential role of nutrition in promoting holistic health and wellness. Emphasis is on identifying nutritional needs and healthy food options. Students explore how culture, socio-economic status, and policy influence access to food and food choices, and impact nutritional health.

  • Discuss digestion and the functions of water in the human body and its influence on homeostasis
  • Examine the impact of nutrition on the holistic health continuum
  • Compare nutritional needs and healthy food choices across the adult lifespan
  • Explore the influences of culture, social, economic, policy, and technology on nutritional health
